- Race Data Les Leston driving Race Number 26, a BRM P25, qualified twelfth, but did not finish (DNF) the race, Stirling Moss driving Race Number 18, a Vanwall VW5, qualified on pole position, but the car did not finish (DNF) the race-however, he then took over the drive of Race Number 20, a Vanwall VW5, from teammate Tony Brooks and together they shared the victory, earning the team the distinction of constructing the first British-built car to win a World Championship race.
