This photo taken during a practice session shows car Number 38, a Maserati 250F driven by Ken Kavanagh and car Number 1, a works Ferrari Dino 246 driven by Mike Hawthorn. Different numbers were used at Spa during practice to fool would-be pirate programme printers. On race day Number 38 renumbered as Number 34 experienced an engine failure and did not start in the race. The Number 1 car was renumbered Number 16 and finished in 2nd place.
